The Snake Incident

Heading into the house on Sunday evening after playing in the yard, Derrick calls out, "Avery freeze" as he is about to go up the steps to our front door. Something long and black slithers in front of us and into the landscaping. Derrick springs into action grabbing his shovel from the garage. Avery follows after his dad to see how he can assist. Mommy and Devin keep a close eye on the snake so it does not slither out of sight. In a flash, Daddy and Avery are back with shovels in hand. Derrick makes several swift attempts to hit the snake, but the snake is still moving out of control. Avery takes some premeditated action to connect his shovel with the snake as well. It seems as if this snake just won't stop. Finally, Derrick looks the snake right in the eyes and with a sharp jerk of his arm, he hits the snake fair and square. Daddy and Avery saved the family  from what could have been a snake disaster.
Avery discussing all the movement and commotion that just took place with the snake as evidence in the background.

Derrick and Avery taking the snake to it's final resting spot - "the hill where nothing grows."
