Trees

Last weekend when Mimi and Papa came to visit, they brought us two little pine trees. Derrick planted them in our side yard and it will be interesting to compare the tree's growth to Avery's as we live at this house.

Going to Work

Avery and Daddy got up early Saturday morning to go to "work." They met Papa, Uncle Nick, and Uncle Alex at Nick and Brandy's old house in Charleston to do a little yard and house work. Avery was excited to hang with the guys and do some manly work. (Notice his lunchbox in hand.)

Manic Monday

Monday was manic and that seems to be the theme for the week. Avery developed an illness over the weekend that wasn't seeming to get better, so to the doctor we went on Monday morning. Nothing serious, but it sure has had him down.

Then as soon as we walk in the door from the doctor, he falls and hits his head on the end table. Poor guy.

The worst part of the day happened that evening when he dropped a 2-lb weight on his foot. Blood began gushing and his toe turned black and blue. It seems to be ok, but it was a rough day and night. It took awhile to convince him it was ok to walk on it, but he still doesn't want to take a sock off of it.  Poor little dude.

Scroll down for the gruesome sight.

Mork Reception

Saturday evening, Derrick and I had a night out on the town. We attended Kyle and Kirsten Mork's Wedding Reception at the Clay Center. Kyle is Derrick's boss. They were already married a few weeks ago in Italy and had a reception over the weekend in Charleston. We had a fabulous time and it was quite elegant to say the least. We enjoyed lobster and steak for dinner. Met Shelley Moore Capito and former Gov. Caperton. The above photos are from the photo booth that they used to create a photobook of the event.

Mammaw was nice enough to come spend the night with Avery. They had movie night and he loved it! Thanks mom...this will probably be one of our last nights out for quite awhile. Glad we went out with a bang!

Big Boy Room

Over the weekend, Avery moved into his new big boy room. We fixed up our spare bedroom by taking down the old wallpaper, painting, putting in new carpet, and a new ceiling fan. We are happy with the way it turned out. This was our first wallpaper removal project and it was no laughing matter. We still need to get trim, but that is it.

Avery has been doing a fantastic job sleeping in his new bed. I think it was the months of hype surrounding the new room that did the trick.

Our new little boy will be moving into Avery's old room. We are going to start removing some of the floral decor that was Avery's room and re-paint that room and get ready for our little baby boy!
